Introduction

A seven-day exploration of Uruguay, a hidden gem in South America, filled with picturesque landscapes, enthralling history, and rich culture.

Day 1 - Touchdown in Montevideo

Montevideo welcomes us with its charm. After checking into the hotel, we dive headfirst into the culture by visiting the Ciudad Vieja, the Old Town, filled with enchanting colonial buildings and the vibrant Mercado del Puerto. A leisurely walk along the Rambla, a waterfront promenade, is up next, providing gorgeous views of the coastline. A sunset dinner with traditional 'asado', and your first day in Uruguay ends on a perfect note.

Day 2 - Dive deeper into Montevideo

Today's focus is art, history, and culture. We start at the Museo Torres Garcia, a tribute to Uruguay's renowned artist. Next, we'll get lost amidst the folklore of the Carnival Museum. Finally, we catch a local football match at the iconic Centenario Stadium, an experience to remember. Uruguay, after all, has the unique boast of being the first country to host, and win, a FIFA World Cup.

Day 3 - Punta del Este and Piriapolis

We leave the urban pace behind for the beach resorts of Punta del Este and Piriapolis. Between the sun, sand, and surf of Playa Brava, and the serene walks along the Rambla of Piriapolis, the day flies by. Don't forget to take a selfie with the hand sculpture, La Mano, an iconic sight of Punta Del Este before heading back.

Day 4 - Luxuriously laid-back Punta del Este

Our day begins by marveling at the architectural wonder that is Casa Pueblo, followed by a visit to the Ralli Museum, house to breathtaking Latin American Art. A boat trip to Islas de Lobos seals the day with the chance to see sea lions.

Day 5 - Ascend to the Historic Colonia del Sacramento

Welcoming us with quaint colonial charm, Colonia del Sacramento awaits. Walking around the Barrio Historico, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, transports you back in time, with its cobbled streets and preserved houses. The day concludes with a surreal sunset over the Rio de la Plata.

Day 6 - Cherishing Colonia

Today is about leisure and exploration, Colonia del Sacramento in the daytime, visiting the Faro lighthouse for breathtaking panoramic views. This city is not just about history; a bike ride outside the city center reveals serene beaches on the river. A sampling of local cheese and wines at a nearby vineyard wraps up the day marvelously.

Day 7 - Despedida Uruguay

No visit to Uruguay is complete without tasting its national drink, Mate. We spend our last day familiarising ourselves with this local tradition before heading back to Montevideo for the flight home. A relaxing walk around the city parks or last-minute souvenir shopping is all time allows. The spirit of Uruguay lingers in our hearts long after the plane takes off.
