Introduction

Explore Oaxaca in 3 days to experience the best it has to offer - colorful streets, vibrant markets, exquisite food, colonial architecture, ancient ruins, and much more.

Day 1 - A Taste of Cultural Oaxaca

Oaxaca City is the perfect place to start our adventure. Can you imagine stepping into a world infused with Mexico's rich history and culture? That's what we'll do today. We'll head to Zócalo, the city center, where everything seems to beat in time with the heart of Oaxaca. Ever seen a tree that's over 2,000 years old? You will at the Arbol del Tule. Next, we'll step back into time at the pre-Columbian site, Monte Albán which contains centuries-old ruins that'll make you ponder the great civilizations of yesteryears. We'll end the day with a glorious sunset at the Mirador del Cerro del Fortín, as it paints the skyline with hues of red and orange over the city.

Day 2 - The Colors of Art and Cuisine

Next, we're off to the vibrant markets of Oaxaca. Can you smell the aroma of fresh spices, hear the cheerful bargaining, and see the beautiful Mexican ceramics and textiles? That's exactly what awaits us at the Mercado Benito Juarez. Later, we'll trip to the village of Teotitlán del Valle - renowned for its handmade wool rugs. Unraveling centuries-old weaving techniques is certainly a sight to behold, wouldn't you agree? We'll cap off the day with a Mexican cuisine cooking class. Time to wear the chef's hat and whip up some traditional dishes using fresh, local ingredients. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you!

Day 3 - Chasing Waterfalls and Traditions

Finally, it’s time to immerse ourselves in Mother Nature's best. Hop on for a trip to Hierve el Agua, a set of breathtaking petrified waterfalls. The sight of the rock formations and natural infinity pools overlooking the mountains is akin to stepping into an ethereal painting. On our way back, we'll stop by the artisan village of San Bartolo Coyotepec, known for its black pottery, a unique craft dating back centuries. Our final stop? A local mezcaleria, where we try Oaxaca's famed agave-based spirit, mezcal. An appropriate ‘high’ to end a remarkable journey, don’t you think?
