Day 1 - Arrival & Discovering Sandakan Town
Welcome to Sandakan, a city brimming with rich history and vibrancy. To start our Malaysian adventure, we'll stroll through the city market areas to fuse into the local culture. Get ready for a taste of earthy local Kuih (traditional cakes) and the well-loved Sandakan-style Spring Noodles at the bustling central market. Post lunch, we kick off our historical journey with the breathtaking view from Puu Jih Shih Temple overlooking the Bay of Sandakan. Get intrigued by the architectural wonder of the St Michael and All Angels Church. Finally, end day one witnessing a splendid sunset at Rotary Observation Pavilion.
Day 2 - Sun Bear Conservation Centre & Rainforest Discovery Centre
On Day 2, get up close and personal with the smallest and cutest bears at the Sun Bear Conservation Centre. Prepare your hearts to melt witnessing their unique behaviours. After lunch, we're off to the Rainforest Discovery Centre. It's time for a mini-trek and canopy walk, soaking in the rich biodiversity that the rainforest has to offer. Don't forget the binoculars, you could spot Hornbills, Orangutans or even a Pygmy squirrel. Wrapping up the day, we retreat to the city for a heart-warming Malaysian dinner.
Day 3 - Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre & Departure
On our final day, meet the famous, friendly red-haired apes at Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. Watch in awe as baby orangutans swing, play and feed so close to you. Remember, it's not a goodbye yet. Savour a traditional lunch at an exquisite local restaurant before prepping for departure.
