Introduction

Explore the timeless beauties of Balıkesir, tucked beautifully within the Agean region of Turkey. Packed with breathtaking natural wonders, historical sites, dolphin watching expeditions and some unforgettable culinary tastes, we've put together a 3-day eye-opening itinerary around these rustic yet brilliant Turkish spots.

Day 1 - Marvelling at the Majesty of Mount Ida

Our journey begins in the grandeur of Mount Ida, also known as Kazdağı. Offering nature's pristine settings, it is home to a mesmerizing National Park. Pop on your hiking boots and explore the sun-dappled paths, losing yourself in the comforting serenades of native birds and the orchestra of cascading waterfalls. Warm yourself up with a bowl of 'Kazdağı mushroom soup', a local delicacy. Next, make your way to Antandros Antique City tucked at the foothills. Did you know it's believed to have been an important center around 5th Century BCE? Steep yourself in bygone empires, from Roman baths to Byzantine mosaics, and feel the pulse of ancient civilizations!

Day 2 - Under the Balıkesir Sun: Beaches and Traditional Bazaars

Second day is all about 'Sea, Sand and Shopping'. Morning beams will catch us at the stunning Altınoluk Beach. Soak up the sun or hop on a boat to explore the nearby coves. Who knows? You might even spot a few dolphins cavorting in the Agean Sea! Then, we'll switch scenes from natural blues to the vibrant hues of Tahtakuşlar Ethnography Museum Bazaar. This open-air market is abundant with handcrafted ceramics, leather products, and colorful textiles that mirror Balıkesir's rich culture. Grab yourself some souvenirs, and don't forget to feast on the famous 'Balıkesir Pisi', a delicious local bread!

Day 3 - A Historical Sojourn through Ayvalık

Starting day three, we're heading to the town of Ayvalık, bursting with a rich history. Walk in the narrow cobblestone streets and marvel at the characteristic architecture of Old Ayvalık Houses. Journey through centuries of history as you step inside Taksiyarhis Church, now functioning as a museum. Remember to look up at the breathtaking ceiling frescoes! Finally, end the tour by immersing yourself in the hypnotic beauty of the sunset at the Devil’s Table, tucked high above Ayvalık. It's said that the devil himself couldn't resist the view from here. Can you blame him?
