Day 1 - Discover the Heart of Meram
We begin our journey by diving head first into the heart of Meram, visiting the renowned Meram Bridge. A historical marvel built by the Seljuks, its historical narratives and structural beauty are sure to enthrall you. Following this, we'll refuel with a scrumptious lunch at one of the local cafés serving the best blend of traditional Turkish and contemporary cuisine. After having our fill, we'll have a relaxed stroll around the district, interacting with locals and observing their daily life. To wrap up the day, we pay a visit to the serene Sille Aya-Elena Church to immerse ourselves in spirituality and silence. It’s reminiscent of standing on the threshold of two worlds: the past echoing from its walls and the present around us.
Day 2 - Marvel at Meram's Architecture and Nature
Waking up to day 2, we've a trip to the magnificent Alaeddin Mosque, one of Turkey’s greatest at hand. Its colossal size and the attention to detail can easily draw anyone into its historical allure. Post mosque visit, we will head for lunch at another specialty local café. Then, we escape the city’s hustle and cut through the spectacular Meram Mountains. The breathtaking landscapes painted with captivating greenery and free-spirited wildlife transports you to another world. We end the day by gazing at the sunset and sipping a cup of traditional Turkish tea, relaxing amidst the mountains: pure bliss, isn’t it?
Day 3 - Unravel the Stories of Meram
On our final day, we indulge in a trip to Konya Tropical Butterfly Garden, the first of its kind in Turkey. The garden hosts numerous species of vibrant butterflies, making it a special experience for nature lovers. Post this, we savour the flavours of Meram one last time by having lunch at a popular local restaurant. Then, it’s time to dig deeper into Meram's history with a visit to The Tomb of Mevlana, a tribute to the famous Persian Sufi mystic - Rumi. It’s a spiritual hotspot and an architect’s joy. We wind up the day with a visit to the local markets for some souvenir shopping. Doesn’t it feel as if we've travelled many centuries in just three days?
